Hello and happy first day of school, band family! Please take a few minutes to read important reminders and info below.
Concession stand workers ARE STILL NEEDED for Blue White Day August 12th between 9-6 (in 3-4 hour shifts) and for Thursday, August 17th, Jamboree facing Northridge – SIGN UP FOR CONCESSIONS SHIFTS HERE — THANK YOU to everyone who has signed up so far and especially to the 15+ band members who have signed up to help!
NOTE ABOUT BLUE WHITE DAY – This event does NOT fulfill the work requirement for a JV or Varsity game as it is CYC only and we are participating as an additional fundraising project. This event IS ELIGIBLE for work credit hours of $4 credit toward next year’s band fees in exchange for hours worked.
Please make plans to attend our August band booster meeting Tuesday, August 15th, at approximately 7:15 pm in the band room.
Meeting will be held immediately following the Parent Preview Show on the soccer field at 6:15 pm. The preview show always depends on the weather. We will practice after school that day, give students a break and time to change, and then move back to the field for the preview show.
Minutes from the July 2023 meeting are attached. Please review in case you have any questions before we vote to adopt these minutes at the meeting.
Topics to be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting include:
BBQ fundraiser sale at community pep rally 8/18Hiring and funding for school resource officers (SRO’s) to travel to away games and competitionsConcession stand upkeep and maintenance needs, staffng for games, concessions stand operations during games, and more.
We are looking at alternatives for concessions workers, including partnering with all CHHS student organizations that require service hours, as well as simplifying the menu at JV games, because we do NOT have enough workers if everyone only completes the minimum requirement of one shift per student in band. Credit hours to be applied to next year’s band fees are earned for each additional hour worked in the concession stand after the 1 shift per student requirement is fulfilled. No special skills are required — food and supplies will be in place, and instructions are provided onsite as workers arrive. If you have experience in or prefer a particular concessions area, please note that in the notes/comments section when you sign up. Our goal is to streamline these events and make them enjoyable for everyone.
Your attendance at booster meetings matters! This program does not function at the highest level without support and involvement from EVERYONE.
By attending band booster meetings, you will receive 1 work credit hour / $4 per meeting to go towards next year’s band fees. Most meetings will last less than one hour. Meetings provide information and opportunities for you to ask questions regarding band and upcoming events, as well as opportunities to support the band while earning credit hours to apply to next year’s fees.
